Biography: Gerardo Zambrano has been drawing since childhood, but only began painting in April of 2017. He is a self-taught artist from the Monterey area in California inspired by The Baroque Period and classical school of art. Producing more than 300 oil/acrylic on canvas works to date, 3 Solo Shows, and 8 surrealist/indigenous/Neo Classical murals in 2020 as well as experimenting with wooden sculptures by way of Chainsaws.
Current Series : The Geometric Series consists of sixteen large recreations of the old masters done in a monochromatic layered glazing technique. Artists featured included William A. Bouguereau, Carravagio, Michaelangelo, Dali and Maxfield Parrish.
The first ten paintings in the series have previously been exhibited at Monterey’s MHAA:Salvador Dalí Museum in October of 2019. The Geometric Extended Series has six new pieces for 2021 focusing on more realism and color in the foreground and incorporating Gold Leaf as well as building his own custom sized primed wooden panels.
